How to remove self doubt in your business

As an entrepreneur, I know you’re constantly coming up with new ideas, wanting to do something different, wanting to grow your business… but before you can act, that little voice sneaks in—the one I like to call the “drunk monkey.” It whispers…

“You’re not capable enough. Your clients won’t pay for that. You don’t have what it takes.”

How do you deal with that feeling of self doubt, that fear of criticism that we all know too well? Is this going to stay a crippling feeling or are there things that you can do to overcome it?

The thing is, self doubt creeps in for all of us, even the most seasoned entrepreneurs. But it doesn’t have to keep you stuck. You can move past it. And once you do, you’ll feel so much more free and inspired to be the fullest expression of yourself in your business, and attract the clients and growth you’re dreaming of.

Three Strategies to Remove Self Doubt

I do have three recommendations for you—ones that I recommend to the members of our signature program, and ones that I consistently use myself.

These strategies allow you to ground and center yourself, reminding you of your unique brilliance and of why you do what you do.

  1. Read Your Testimonials (Yes, Seriously!)

This might sound simple, but it’s powerful. Whether they’re glowing reviews, heartfelt emails, or handwritten thank-you cards, these testimonials are a reflection of the impact you’ve already made.

I have a big pink box in my office that I call my Kind Words Box. And anytime I receive a piece of mail, a card, or any words of encouragement that warm my heart, I put them in.

Having a place for these words of encouragement really boosts your spirit during times where you’re questioning yourself—and reminds you why you do what you do.

If you’ve ever doubted your abilities, reading through those words of affirmation will remind you of your capability, your purpose, and the impact you’ve made on your community. And yes, I’ll even go as far as reading the Amazon reviews of my books when I need a confidence boost.

You’ve created something amazing before—and use this to remind yourself that you can do it again.

  1. Work with a Mentor Who Believes in You

There’s nothing quite like having someone in your corner who’s been where you want to go. A mentor who’s climbed five or ten steps up the ladder can offer the perspective, encouragement, and belief you need to keep going when doubt sets in.

When I work with my own mentors, I share my deepest aspirations, fears, and dreams. It’s a vulnerable process, but one that’s met with understanding and, more importantly, belief in my potential.

A good mentor sees the best in you, even when you can’t see it yourself, and gently guides you toward stepping into the next version of yourself. You don’t have to figure it all out on your own.

  1. Immerse Yourself in a Supportive Community

Lastly, surround yourself with a like-minded community of women in business who are striving for big dreams and bold goals, just like you.

In the Boldheart community, we foster an environment of high encouragement and unwavering belief in one another. One where, if you don’t believe in yourself, you can borrow the belief that everybody else has in you.

What’s more, you begin to see the success of the women around you, thinking, “ If she can do it and she can do it, I feel like I can do it too.”

And if ever you find yourself in a place of self doubt, you can come to the community and ask for support, and everybody swoops in like a rising tide, reminding you of your brilliance.

Throughout the years that I’ve been in business, I’ve found that in the right environment, there is really nothing you can’t do.

The Key to Remove Self Doubt

With the right tools—the right community, the right mentor, and reminding yourself of the impact that you’ve had with others, that is how you can really remove self doubt.

Remember, self doubt is just a sign that you’re doing something big. It’s an invitation to grow into the version of yourself who’s ready for this next level that you need to reach those big goals.

So, the next time the “drunk monkey” shows up, try these three strategies. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you can shift your perspective and remove self doubt, to take confident steps toward your dreams.
